VW ID.X Performance – The bad boy from Wolfburg
VW's gathering of EV enthusiasts in Lacarno used to showcase an interesting concept
The ID.7, which underwent serious changes, served as the basis for the attractive muscular concept. The visual impression shows that the body has been lowered by 60 mm, while the large spoiler and 20-inch wheels indicate a lot more strength.
The only powertrain available on the current production ID.7 is all-wheel drive with twin motors delivering 210kW, although less powerful versions are likely to be added soon.
The ID.X Performance will have almost twice as much power, which should reach more than 400 kW! If this concept becomes a reality, then VW will compete with Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4.
Moreover, the marketers from Wolfsburg have announced the possibility of launching a station wagon version, an undertaking that electric vehicle manufacturers are not yet ready to do.
For now, the goal has been achieved by raising a huge cloud of dust behind the concept shown. This shows that VW is abandoning the less boring EV strategy and wants to put new wind in its sails.
Practice shows that as soon as VW shows a concept, it becomes a production model in the next few years. The gauntlet has been thrown, it remains to be seen when and in what form the bad boy from Wolfsburg will appear.
