Elegend EL1 – Following in the footsteps of the Audi Quattro S1

A super sports electric car inspired by the Octane legend
With the spread of the electric drive, we get more and more powerful, but also more expensive cars. It is no longer surprising that EV manufacturers are springing up like mushrooms, offering powerful performance and limited small series, not ashamed to ask for sums higher than the renowned sports brands.
A case in point is the small German company Elegend which will produce 30 hand-built examples of the EL1, a super sports car that is visually and proportionally based on the Audi Sport Quattro S1 from the 1980s. The 4.16 meter long body is made of carbon based on the monocoque principle placed on an aluminum base.
The realization of this project is scheduled for next year. Due to the ambitions to sell in the USA as well, the company gave up the cameras and brought back the exterior mirrors.
Two years ago, the EL-1 study was presented. Unlike it, the production model has a more refined design, and the interior is largely dominated by elements made of carbon.
Two electric motors with a total output of up to 600 kW (816 hp) transmit power to all wheels. The EL1 sprints from standstill to 100 km/h in about 2.8 seconds and takes 7.5 seconds to reach 200 km/h.
Elegend plans to reach a top speed of 300 km/h by the time of commercial launch. These performances will be made possible by the battery with a net capacity of 80 kWh.
The Bavarian manufacturer claims a range of just under 400km and promises that on a single battery charge you can complete "two hot laps of the Nürburgring-Nordschleife at race pace" without any loss of performance. The net price for Elegend EL1 is 890,000 euros.
