Genesis GV80 Coupé Concept – Premiere in New York
Fresh blood in the premium segment of coupe crossovers
At the upcoming New York Auto Show, Hyundai's luxury brand is announcing an attack on yet another segment
Genesis is a brand that has made the most progress in the segment of premium vehicles. The last few years have presented one model after another that is decorated with high quality, powerful engines and impressive design.
Now, on the eve of the New York Auto Show (April 7-16), the Genesis GV80 Coupé Concept has been shown, a concept vehicle with four doors, rather a crossover coupe, which explicitly announces the upcoming production model.
Compared to the current GV80, the roof slopes back more gently and the rear spoiler is clearly sculpted. Homogeneous lighting with two continuous rear light strips is new, as are the 23-inch black wheels and striking magma red paint.
The interior is also sportier, especially in the rear with individual seats and elements of carbon fiber between the seats and the luggage compartment. But aside from these playful elements, the GV80 Coupé is likely to look exactly like the study when it goes into production late this year or early 2024.
Under the hood, there will probably be economical and clean six-cylinder diesel and gasoline engines that will be able to work with climate-neutral e-fuels. When it hits the market it will face established German competition in the form of the Audi Q8, BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé.
Among them, the new Genesis GV80 Coupé may not be the most elegant, but it will definitely be the most individual offering in the segment.
