Porsche Mission X – A beacon to the future

Celebrating its 75th birthday, Porsche has crowned it with a possibly game-changing hypercar concept

From the very beginning, the company founded by Ferdinand Porsche showed that it would be something special, something that would change the perception of cars. That happened to her. In celebration of its 75th birthday, which ended a few hours ago, Porsche showed its vision for the future of its creations.

The Mission X shone in all the glory that 'His Majesty the Car' can produce, showing that the next 75 years will be filled with equal excitement and even stronger performance extracted from modern technology. But before we indulge in technical speculation, since not many details about the drive have been revealed, we should admire the sculptural appearance of the Mission X.

Set on a wheelbase almost identical to the 918 Spyder, it has a carbon fiber body, and as advertised by the house, twice the downforce of the 911 GT3 RS! This data is of great importance because two Porsche legends are involved in the story. Ten years ago, the 918 Spyder was one of three new hypercars that proved that electrification is not just about the environment.

It is the first car homologated for everyday use to lap the Nurburgring's Nordschleife in under seven minutes. At 4,596mm long, 1,999mm wide and 1,199mm tall, the Mission X is shorter but wider and taller than the Recorder. Visually it is a very different car with many fascinating design elements. The most striking of these are the large lightweight dome that extends over the cabin and doors in the style of a Le Mans series vehicle with true hypercar styling.

For now, it's officially just a concept. But it is more than clear that in the coming years he will be one of the prides in the garages of hyper rich collectors. The first argument of the Porsche Mission X is that it has more than 1,700 kilograms of thrust at a speed of 285 km/h. And the other is to have a power-to-weight ratio of roughly one horsepower per kilogram of weight. It is speculated to have 1,521 hp. If so, then it would weigh an incredible, for an electric hypercar, just 1,521 kg.

Inside, there are shell seats made of carbon in different colors for the driver and front passenger. How to know who mows, who carries water. There are multiple cameras to capture the "action". It is not known how many electric motors there will be, but it is clear that the battery will be located behind the seats, just like in the announced electric 718 Cayman.

Porsche has revealed that the 900-volt electric architecture will allow it to charge twice as fast as the current Porsche Taycan, which is one of the fastest-charging electric vehicles in the world. There are no guesses about autonomy, we will have to wait when the beautiful dream becomes a reality.
